Solar energy as a development opportunity for Bosnia and Herzegovina
Although BiH has no problems with the supply of electricity, even in the past period we were the only country in the region that exported electricity, that could change. Namely, BiH accepted the obligation to carry out the decarbonization process by 2050, that is, to shut down its thermal power plants, which are currently the largest producers of electricity. When that happens, we will have to replace the energy deficit with production from renewable sources. If we don’t do it in time, we could very easily turn from an exporting country into a country that imports energy. And the price of imported energy is far higher than the price we currently pay for the electricity we use. On the other hand, accelerated decarbonization and the fight against climate change is not only an obligation of BiH that it has assumed and must fulfill, but at the same time it is also a great development opportunity for our country. Considering the unused domestic potential of renewable sources (primarily solar and wind energy), BiH has a unique opportunity to significantly accelerate its economic development and make a step forward in the development of the economy and society as a whole.
Citizens, especially entrepreneurs, are more and more aware of this, so more and more people are looking for information about the construction of solar power plants.
